Women and Men topple Yakima, both garner the 2 seeds to NWAC

Yakima, WA- Rachel Goetz and the Knights women's basketball team had a lot riding on the outcome of Wednesday's game versus second-place Yakima. Win, and the two-seed into the tournament would belong to the Knights.  A loss meanwhile, could have meant a stumble all the way to a fourth seed heading into the postseason which kicks on in Everett next week.

In the end, the Knights brought their "A" game to the floor in Yakima, and walked away with the spoils, a 90-76 victory and that coveted seed.

A huge night inside from Yakima Valley product Natalie Andreas, who led the Knights with 23 points and 16 rebounds, was exactly what Goetz and her group was looking for coming off a two-game skid that had the team hungry for a win.  Three others scored in double figures for the women, including 22 points from sophomore Chasity Spady.

The two-seed was already locked in for coach Jeremy Harden and his men's group, though Yakima had huge incentive to chase the win as they were still in a fight for the postseason.

The pace to the game was breakneck from the outset after a contentious battle a month ago in Wenatchee. Malik Parsons, playing in his final regular season contest as a Knight, was particularly special on this Knight, as he rattled home 30 points on 66% shooting from the field, including 5-7 from beyond the arc.

Chance Michels added 13 for WVC, and despite the game being close at the break, the Knights pulled away for an eventual, comfortable, 84-60 victory over the host Yaks.

Both teams now await their fate as the NWAC selection show will determine their paths to the Championship.  The shows kick off this Sunday at 4 and 6pm.
