Gonzalez pours in 34 as Umpqua upends Wenatchee

Tacoma, WA- The rematch of the 2019 NWAC women's basketball championship was a highly anticipated matchup as soon as the Crossver schedules were announced.  Though the season is still young, the Riverhawks showed they will be a tough out come March.

The undefeated Riverhawks (9-0) and the defending champion Knights fought hard throughout a even first half, with the Knights down a single point at the break.  Umpqua was led by Hunter Boske off the bench, with 10 points int he second quarter.

Cielo Gonzalez, a sophomore point guard for the Riverhawks, poured in 25 of her 34 points in the second half to lead all scorers as the Knights struggled to defend the perimeter.  

Natalie Andreas had a solid game for the Knights, chipping in 14 points and 6 rebounds.

The Knights head into the break at 8-4 and will take on Northwest Indian College before embarking on conference play at home versus Columbia Basin on January 2nd.
