Knights fall to Spokane in tight, overtime east region battle

Wenatchee, WA-Returning to the friendly confines of Smith Gym following a tough NWAC east region loss on the road at NIC Wednesday was exactly what the Knights hoped could provide them a spark against visiting, region-leading Spokane on Saturday. A nip-and-tuck affair it looked to be from the onset, and the contest did not disappoint.  The two sides needed an extra frame to decide the contest, with Spokane finding their way to victory 74-69 in overtime.

The Knights led a close contest by two points after 20 minutes following strong first halves from the California duo Malik Parsons (10 points) and Rayquan Everett (9 points).

The second half was more of the same, close competition from both sides, but the difference down the stretch was the ability to execute from the free throw line.  The Knights shot a dismal 46% from the charity stripe in the second half and allowed the Sasquatch to remain within striking distance.

The free throw line turned out to be the difference in the final bonus frame as well, as the Sasquatch were a perfect 7-of-7 in overtime, sending the Knights faithful home disappointed in the final tally.

The Knights have a quick turnaround when they face Yakima Valley College at home Monday at 4pm.
